Each year, the China Institute Gallery presents two exhibitions, each accompanied by an in-depth scholarly catalogue. Past exhibits have included calligraphy, ceramics, bronzes, painting, decorative arts, architecture, photography, textiles and contemporary art.Best and worst times to go to the China Institute GalleryThe best time to see the Gallery is when admission is free admission from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.Note that the gallery is closed for the remainder of 2015 and will reopen in 2016 with a show called "Art of the Mountain: Through the Chinese Photographer's Lens."Must see/do at the China Institute GalleryEach exhibition offers a new and different set of must-sees. What unites all of the exhibits is an intimate, first-class exploration of a specific theme related to Chinese art and culture throughout the last 5,000 years of Chinese history.Admission to the China Institute GalleryWhen an exhibit is on display, the China Institute Gallery is open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8 p.m. The Gallery is closed in between exhibitions and on major holidays.Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for students and seniors (with valid ID), and free for children under 12 and for members of the China Institute, the Asia Society, and Channel Thirteen.
