Coach, founded in 1941 in New York, was originally called Manhattan Leather Bags. In the 1960s, its high quality leather purses became branded with the name Coach and newly-hired designer Bonnie Cashin revolutionized its product design. In 1986, Sara Lee Corporation purchased Coach and turned it into the upscaleglobal brand it is today.
