Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is approved by the American Association of Museums and is affiliated with the Association of Children s Museums. It offers a variety of educational programs related to wildlife, anthropology and geology. The museum s astronomy department provides more than 200 specimens of meteorites. Its biology department preserves specimens for scientific research and graduate studies. The museum s geology collection includes over 15,000 rocks, minerals and paleontological specimens. Its live animal collection consists of more than 100 amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The museum also operates a gift shop that offers educational toys, games, home science experiment kits, books, T-shirts, tote bags, key chains and coin purses.
