In the year 2004, the Brunswick County Public Utilities Department added the South Brunswick Water & Sewer Authority s collection system and the Carolina Blythe Utility Company s collection system to its overall system. The countywide collection system consists of more than 50 county-owned sewage pump stations, approximately 40 miles of gravity mains and nearly 105 miles of force mains, with approximately 40 miles of force main under construction to be titled the West Brunswick Regional Wastewater System. The wastewater collections division repairs and maintains the countywide system and is responsible for the installation and repair of individual residential customer-owned grinder pump stations. The department also provides water, sewer and trash removal for residents. Electric, gas, and phone services are provided by independent companies.
