Burlington Police Department is located in Burlington, one of the largest cities in the state of Vermont. The police department commissioned in 1865 serves residential community of over 40,000. It also serves thousands of students from local colleges and the University of Vermont. Burlington Police Department provides residents the option of reporting low level events that do not require the collection of physical evidence, witness interviews or follow-up investigation through its website. In 2001, it received the Community Policing Award from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
