Buttermilk Channel takes its name from the tidal strait separating Brooklyn from Governors Island. Legend has it that Brooklyn farmers crossing the channel by boat to sell their milk 150 years agoendured such strong currents that their milk was churned into butter. This popular, children-friendly restaurant offers traditional American bistro cuisine, with imaginative touches. Whenever possible, owner Doug Crowell goes with local, organic and fair-trade ingredients.
