The Cortland Fire Department, formerly known as The Cortland Volunteer Fire Company responds to more than 900 emergencies every year. Established in 1885, its staff is comprised of full-time firefighters and paramedics, as well as part-time volunteers and crew. The department conducts a variety of fire prevention and suppression activities to protect lives and properties of citizens and visitors of the city of Cortland, Ohio.
