The Leavenworth County Sheriffs Office-Jail Division is a 157-bed facility that provides detention and confinement facilities to convicted prisoners and detainees in pending trials. It works under the Leavenworth County Sheriffs Office, which was established in 1973 and employs more than 110 staff members with a fleet of over 30 vehicles. The sheriff s office maintains a tactical assistance group and a clandestine response team. In addition, it has administration, detective, traffic and patrol divisions. The Leavenworth County Sheriffs Office operates a justice center and supports the Drug Abuse resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. The jail is located in Leavenworth, Kan.
