The New Castle County Police Department is responsible for the enforcement of all laws and statues in New Castle county in Delaware, as well as the protection of its residents and property. The department is organized into several divisions. The 911 communications division operates and maintains the emergency communications systems. The patrol division is responsible for providing 24-hour law enforcement services. The criminal investigations division is responsible for investigating major crimes and is made up of several units, including domestic violence, family services, missing persons, victim s assistance, property crimes and evidence detection. The emergency preparedness division is responsible for providing residents with the necessary information and responses to natural and technological disasters. The community services division provides educational programs designed to increase community awareness and participation of the local criminal justice system.
