The NYCCC School of the Arts: the countrys only full time professional school of Chinese dance. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum of more than 1, 000 classes and workshops annually. Dance School is the only American institution to receive the honor of representing the dance curriculum of the Beijing Dance Academy, Chinas premier national dance institute. Dance China NY (formerly known as Chinese Folk Dance Company): the resident touring company of NYCCC, is comprised of award-winning professional dancers and musicians. The Company brings the richness of traditional dance, Peking Opera and music to audiences across the country. Each year, the Company presents over 750 performances, workshops, master classes and lecture/demonstrations for 180, 000 people of all ages. They have toured to theaters, schools and cultural centers in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington, DC. NYCCC produces and presents cutting edge concert productions, including our Annual Lunar New Year Festival, the largest of its kind on the East Coast. Our performances in February play to sold-out audiences. We are also pleased to host collaborative programs with other organizations and companies including Families with Children From China, Asian Americans for Equality, Childrens Television Workshop, and Rounder Records.
