The Upper St. Clair Theater opened in the 1960s as an integral part of Upper St. Clair High School. Aside from being the venue for USC High School's annual Fall Play and Spring Musical, the Theater also serves its community by hosting concerts, theatrical events and lectures. Robert Daley, founder and owner of South Hills Art Center, is primarily a portrait artist. He worked for many years as a freelance portrait artist before buying this gallery in Brookline. Daley now teaches classes in oil painting techniques and much of his work is hanging in his gallery. Daley also still paints custom portraits.
The Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, featuring more than 100 singers, 16 of which are paid professionals, is now in its 76th season. The choir produces three programs each season, and performs each program multiple times in various locations. The choir holds semi-annual auditions to fill available positions. Bach Choir is a not-for-profit, tax- exempt organization supported in part by The Heinz Endowments, The Pittsburgh Foundation, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and other local foundations and corporations.
Swissvale Bowl-A-Rama is a family-run business by the Palangios. It has new synthetic lanes, automatic scoring, and cosmic bowling. The facility is equipped with a gameroom, food served by Frank's Place, and rooms for private parties or meetings. Home of the 2008 and 2009 Pennsylvania State High School Bowling Champion Antonio Palangio, Swissvale Bowl-A-Rama is a USBC-certified bowling facility. This newly renovated two story gallery space offers a wide range of exhibitions, from contemporary glass sculpture to 19th century European paintings. It represents successful national and international artists as well as important regional icons. The emphasis here is on contemporary realist painting and historic or industrial images of Pittsburgh.
The gallery also holds fine art auctions four to five times a year, working with a wide variety of clientele. It assists the first time art buyer, corporate and institutional customers, and dedicated art collectors. It will pack and ship items upon request. Concept Art Gallery has an in house framing staff, specializing in custom archival framing with a wide selection of moldings.
