When Jölane Abt immigrated to the United States in 1913, her life was tough but after managing to save enough money she became one of the first women to drive a car in the 1920s and traveled to Cuba by herself when she was just 26. After she married, she and her husband and business partner opened an electronics store in 1934 that grew into a very successful business named Abt Electronics.
Jölane always dreamed of opening an Austrian restaurant and her son carried out her wishes, by creating Jölane's Café right next to the new Abt Electronics store in Glenview.
