Rooted in current early childhood research, CMOSC has become a destination and valuable family resource for Sonoma County and across the region, welcoming 150,000 visitors each year. The CMOSC campus includes over 7,000sq ft of existing interior space, coupled with 36,000sq ft of outdoor exhibits. Part of the Oceanographic Teaching Stations nonprofit organization, this small aquarium features rotating exhibits, as well as a shark tank, a tide pool touch tank and a living reef tank. Classes and events are held regularly to encourage the public to take an interest in the ocean and coastline of Southern California, including the impact of the human population on the environment. Donations are suggested for admission at the Roundhouse Marine Lab & Aquarium, which is located off Manhattan Beach Boulevard, at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier.

Established in 1950, The Museum of York County is a recreational facility that offers cultural opportunities for the children of Rock Hill in South Carolina. It features dioramas showcasing the African collection. The museum exhibits artifacts, potteries, and landscapes and lifeways. The Museum of York County is a repository for the Vernon Grant collection of illustration art by the originator of Snap, Crackle and Pop. It operates Settlemyre Planetarium, which uses a star projector and domed ceiling and other audio and video systems to recreate night sky. The museum also maintains a store that provides regional food items, merchandise from Africa, books, educational gifts for children, and handmade pottery and jewelry by local artists. The Museum of York County administers group visits and guided tours. It offers the Smithsonian Institution Affiliation Program.

The Lock House, located along the Susquehanna River in historic downtown Havre de Grace, was built in 1840 and remained in service until the canal stopped being used in 1900.  In 1982 the Lock House was transformed into a museum and opened to the public and renamed the Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House.  Enter the museum and tour the Lock Keeper's bedroom, the Havre de Grace room which provides detailed history of the town and the War of 1812 room which hosts maps of the area.
