The Salvation Army Service Center offers a variety of community services, including emergency food and financial assistance, family counseling and visitation services for older adults. There is also a worship center that offers children's education, music and arts programs, women's ministries and worship services. Youth services include character-building programs, community recreation programs, day camp activities and latchkey programs.
The Salvation Army is an international movement and an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church that currently operates in 117 countries around the world. This Evanston Service Center has been located in this building since 1923.
Since 1940, the Thrift House has been a fundraising source for the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore. The clothing store, which sells garments for men, women and children, serves the diverse community. Other items, such as shoes, electronics, accessories and books, are also available. Items can be donated if they're new or gently used. The Fitting Futures program at Thrift House provides free clothing and interview training to women preparing for job interviews.
ORT Resale Store accepts donations of clothing, housewares and furniture to help support over 800 ORT schools and over 300,00 students around the world.
The shop sells a wide range of men's, women's and children's resale clothing to support ORT America. Prices here are a fraction of the original retail prices.
