Palm Springs International Airport is located in the heart of Palm Springs, California. The airport was originally built by the US Army Air Corps in 1939 to facilitate emergency landings when acclimate weather prevented landings at Los Angeles airport March Field. At the time the Agua Caliente Band of Cachuilla Indians owned the land used to build the airport. By 1942 land had been acquired just a half mile from the original facility and Palm Springs Army Airfield was built and the old space was used as a secondary facility. In 1945 the airport was no longer used by the military and sold to private buyers. In 1961 the city acquired the land and used it to build Palm Springs Municipal Airport. Currently the majority of flights into PSP are seasonal, as the warm area is a popular winter destination for tourists.

PSP airport has ten airlines, three of which operate seasonally that fly to several domestic destinations and a handful of Canadian cities. Both long and short-term parking are available at PSP.

There are a variety of dining options from fast food, yogurt and Starbucks to a California Wine Bar. In terms of shopping there is about half a dozen options including the Desert Marketplace, the PGA Tour Shop and CNBC News shop. There are a variety of services at Palm Springs International Airport including free Wi-Fi, ATMs, USO Service Center and a currency exchange.

Ground transportation at PSP includes limos, taxis, an Amtrak train or bus, Greyhound and many airport shuttle services that service the airport. If staying near the airport there are four hotel options including the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel Palm Springs, the Extended Stay America Hotel Palm Springs and the Renaissance Hotel Palm Springs.
