Bassett-Hyland Energy Company is a family owned and operated Chevron jobbership that serves the Coos and Douglas County areas of Southwestern Oregon. Maurie Bassett began working for the Standard Oil Company of California in 1959. Working at first with one truck and himself as the only employee, he began delivering fuels and lubricants to loggers and dairy farmers in the Hebo/Cloverdale area along the northern Oregon coast. After several years at the coast he was transferred back to the Willamette valley where he operated the bulk plant in Stayton, serving the farming communities in that area and the logging operations of the entire North Santiam river canyon. 1970 found Maurie on the move once again as he was sent north to Camas, Washington. This operation required the addition of two drivers to serve the greater Camas/Washougal area and included the Crown Zellerbach paper mill in Camas. After a brief three year stay in Washington, Maurie was sent to the Southern Oregon coast to take over Chevron’s marine and truck terminal in Coos Bay. After a few years serving the greater Coos County area including accounts like Weyerhaeuser’s mill sites and woods operations, Chevron closed their Reedsport and Myrtle Point facilities and incorporated them into the Coos Bay area. In 1980 Chevron changed their business plan and their wholesale distributors were forced to become jobbers. At that time Harold Hyland, the distributor in Roseburg, joined Maurie to form Bassett-Hyland Energy Company. This increased the marketing area of Bassett-Hyland Energy Company to include Coos and Douglas Counties all the way from the Coast to the crest of the Cascades. Maurie and Harold are now both enjoying retirement while Maurie’s three sons and daughter work in the business. Many things have changed since those one truck/one man days of the sixties. BHEC now operates two bulk facilities, three gas stations, three cardlock sites and employs upwards of 45 people. Through all the changes, our commitment to our customers to provide quality products and superior service at competitive prices still remains our goal and our promise to you. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How soon can you be to our site if we need assistance? Once you contact us and notify us that you need one of our vehicles on hand, we will begin to arrange it. We strive to have every vehicle where it needs to be in the shortest amount of time possible. What is the proper lubricant for my vehicle? Every vehicle has a different requirement for lubricants. Take the time to contact us and let us know the year, make and model of the vehicle. One of our trained experts will help you to determine the best lube for the job. Why is the price of gasoline so high? During the summer months, the price of gasoline increases due to the blend restrictions. These blends help to reduce the damage that our ozone experiences. This special blend does cost more to make. So the price of gasoline increases in the summer. The price will drop again over the winter months.

Store hours are: Monday - Friday9 am - 8 pm Saturday9 am - 6 pm Sunday10 am - 6 pm Pharmacy Hours: Monday - Friday9 am - 7 pm Saturday 9 am - 6 pm SundayClosed We opened our first store in Yakima, Washington, in the garage of one of the original founders. Open only a few hours a week at first, business continued to grow and so did the store, finally moving to larger quarters at its present location on 5th Avenue. Since 1955 we’ve continued that kind of growth and now have 74 stores throughout the Northwest in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. We’re one of the pioneers of membership, discount shopping in the Northwest. Our stores offer maximum savings and selection on the things you need and use every day. Being a membership store means that our customers "join" Bi-Mart or must be a guest of a member before shopping with us. A nominal one-time fee, still just $5, buys a membership card good for a lifetime and covers all family members living at home. Members show their card to enter one of our stores. Bi-Mart is a great fit for our members— being a friendly, comfortable place to shop that’s not too big and not too small. With Bi-Mart’s easy parking and low, every day prices, you don’t need to shop at a store that’s huge, crowded or expensive. And, you don’t need to buy a 6-month’s supply to enjoy the savings. Each Bi-Mart is stocked with over 40,000 items that are specially chosen for our member’s Northwest lifestyle and pocketbook. We take a "deep discount" approach to merchandising brand name goods, striving to offer a wide selection of top quality merchandise at low everyday prices. Each store deals mainly in hard goods in departments such as pharmacy, electronics, housewares, sporting goods, automotive, hardware, personal care, toys, clothing/shoes, beer/food/wine and more. Even as we’ve grown over the years, we continue to keep our stores simple, bringing costs down and boosting savings. It’s a delicate balance– enough comfort, enough selection in stores that aren’t too massive or too difficult to shop in. Members find Bi-Mart a friendly, comfortable store where they can save money and easily find what they’re looking for— our floor plans are similar from store to store so no matter where a member shops, they feel at home. Employee Owners Bi-Mart currently employs over 3500 people. In 2004, Bi-Mart was purchased by its employees, beginning a new era for our business. Employee ownership powers our commitment to offer the best value and service possible. Our employee-owners are dedicated to the successful future of Bi-Mart in the Northwest. In addition, Bi-Mart employees are active in their communities…serving as team coaches and United Way fund drive volunteers; they support area churches, scout troops, and local charities. They donate their time, money, and enthusiasm to their children’s schools, teams, and clubs. All in all, Bi-Mart employees are a group of proud and involved citizens. Just Right for the Northwest Everyone is welcome, we look forward to serving you at any of our 74 locations. With outstanding, everyday values, a name brand selection of merchandise for the Northwest and friendly service— we’re Just Right for the Northwest. We hope you’ll shop with us soon.
