Hi Im Rev. Michael Heath and I have been counseling folks in the Syracuse area for over 30 years. I believe that speaking freely and being understood, without judgment, are the most healing experiences a person can have. To really understand and be therapeutically helpful, however, requires learning about a persons larger context and history. Thus, I strive to put a persons immediate pain into a meaningful perspective. In life, trauma and loss cause emotional wounds which distort our perceptions and create exaggerated and irrational behaviors. The process of therapy uncovers underlying wounds, restores reason and allows folks to discover creative solutions to their life problems. While all licensed therapist are trained in counseling, only Certified Pastoral Counselors have undergone their own extensive therapy as part of their education. When you talk with me, you know that I have sat in your seat. Ive learned about counseling not only from graduate schools but from my own personal therapy as well. In addition to viewing a resume of my training and experience, you can also watch my mental health segments on 9WSYR televisions "Bridge Street" and get a sense if Im the right therapist for you.
