The Department of Environmental Services is a public agency that is responsible for the regulation and enforcement of environmental law and related programs. It is comprised of solid waste management, water quality, and environmental health and safety divisions. The department provides food protection, soil erosion and animal control, and wastewater and solid waste disposal services. It additionally administers health, environmental hazard, and rural and agricultural issues. The department offers water conservation, groundwater management, sanitation, recycling, and water and air quality inspection services. It also provides various environmental education and training programs. The Department of Environmental Services is a part of the government of Wake County in North California, which operates human resources, planning, fire, sheriff and finance departments.
