Cherokee County Recycle Center recently began focusing on "single stream" recycling, which allows county residents to recycle without having to separate all of the materials. The Canton location is just one of two centers; the other is in Woodstock.
The main office for the Cherokee County Senior Services office is at the Univeter Road location, with other branches in Acworth and Waleska. Senior Services uses AgeWise Connection, a website to help the elderly learn about their benefits and the Senior Emergency Fund for those who may need an immediate sum of money. The non-profit organization also helps the elderly learn about its Medicare benefits.
The county Roads and Bridges Department is responsible for maintaining all work done on the county's road systems, including grading, draining and pavement. However, highways and state roads fall under the aegis of the state Department of Transportation.
The Cherokee County Emergency Operations Center specializes in emergency preparedness and response. Made up of representatives from various public safety agencies, the EOC coordinates and dispatches necessary resources to people and places ravaged by disasters and other emergencies.
