The Fairfax County Public Schools Alternative School Programs is a division of the Teen Alternative Program at Northwest Mental Health Center. Four teachers provide instruction for 20 students experiencing serious social-emotional difficulties that interfere with their participation in the regular school program. Admission is achieved through referral to the Mental Health Director of the Teen Alternative Program of the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board.
Montgomery County's Department of Health and Human Services offers support programs for children and youth. Projects include the "Linkages to Learning" program, which offers community services for children and families in the school setting. There are also programs for infants and toddlers and a childcare subsidy program, which provides financial assistance to struggling parents. See the website for more information on programs and details.
