Archuleta County, located in southwest Colorado, is rectangular in shape and covers 1,364 square miles. Approximately 50 percent of the land in the county is owned or controlled by the United States Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, 15 percent is owned by the Southern Ute Native American tribe and the remaining 35 percent is privately owned.
