County Government Courts in Riverhead, New York

Named after a war hero and New York State Supreme Court Justice, the Arthur M. Cromarty Court Complex is located at the intersection of Route 24 and Route 51, along with several other county buildings. The County Court handles felony criminal prosecutions within Suffolk County and limited civil cases.

The Suffolk County District Attorney, Thomas J. Spota, has offices in five different locations throughout the county with headquarters in Hauppauge. The Riverhead office is located in the Arthur M. Cromarty Court Complex and contains the following bureaus: homicide, major crime, child abuse and domestic violence, appeals and narcotics. Spota, a Democrat, has held the elected position since 2001 and last ran in 2009, unopposed.

Suffolk County Supreme Court has jurisdiction over all other county courts, both criminal and civil. Cases heard generally fall outside the jurisdiction of other courts. The Supreme Court is located on Court Street, in between Griffing Avenue and Osborne Avenue.
