A Profile of First Baptist Church Since 1838, First Baptist has offered spiritual leadership in our community. Remnants of our heritage are still around, including the old bell that now sites on the corner outside our Welcome Center. The "Coakley" building, built in 1922 and named for the pastor at the time of its construction, is still part of our facilities. We are grateful for our past, and thrilled about our future. God has placed our congregation in a rapidly growing area. We have the privilege of sharing the message of Jesus with an increasingly large number of people, and we are seeking creative, strategic, relevant ways to share that message. For the past several years we have been involved in an ambitious building program. We completed the construction of our preschool/children building and the renovation of the Coakley building, which served as our sanctuary prior to 1969.
