The Greater Burlington YMCA serves the community with a range of child care and recreational programs for children, youths, adults and senior citizens. Founded in 1866, the organization also offers various physical education and cultural programs. Its facility features a gymnasium, spinning room, cardiovascular center, racquetball court and indoor pools. The Greater Burlington YMCA s exercise and sport programs include natal exercise, yoga, kickboxing, dance, basketball and water fitness classes. Founded in 1893, Lund Family Center is a nonprofit agency based in Burlington, Vt. The agency offer a therapeutic residential treatment program for pregnant and parenting young women, a comprehensive adoption program, a teen pregnancy prevention program and a wide range of other child and family services. In addition to local and interstate infant and older children adoptions, it assists families who want to pursue in international adoptions. Its other programs include, a NAEYC accredited early childhood center, parent education workshops and support, boot camp for new dads, comprehensive educational services for residents and day students working toward their diploma, drug treatment for residents and outpatients and childbirth education. The agency has received the United States Department of Health and Human Services 2003 Adoption Excellence Award, the March of Dimes 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award and the GlaxoWellcome Child Health Recognition Award.
