Daniela Gerard, MD, PhD, is the general practice and functional medicine physician at Wyoming Medical Wellness Center in Gillette, Wyoming. Over the past 14 years, Dr. Gerard has been a constant presence in the emergency rooms in Gillette and Newcastle, Wyoming, developing a reputation as a thorough physician with an exceptional ability to listen to the whole story and treat the patient as an individual. Her patients often inquired whether she had her own practice, which led to the opening of Wyoming Medical Wellness Center. According to Dr. Gerard, the top three most important things about being a doctor are: 1) the patient; 2) the patient; 3) the patient.  With that in mind, she never stopped learning and updating her knowledge and skills. She goes to frequent conferences and meetings to ensure she stays up to date on medical guidelines and newest developments.  In addition, she has recently embarked on acquiring certification in two new specialties, functional medicine and aesthetic medicine, to better serve the patients in her community. After arriving in the United States in 1987, Dr. Gerard put herself through school, earning a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, and then went on to the MSTP (Medical Scientist Training Program) to earn her MD and PhD in cellular and molecular pathology at the State University of New York at Stonybrook, in Long Island, NY.  In the meantime, she proudly became a US citizen, and happily embraced the american culture and values. Dr. Gerard started her internal medicine residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.  She then got married, and completed her training in emergency medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.  Dr. Gerard began her medical career in North Carolina before moving to Wyoming in 2005. She is board-certified in emergency medicine. Dr. Gerard is a devout Christian, and animal lover, with six dogs, one horse, a donkey, two house cats, two barn cats, and a husband.  While an excellent and creative cook, her favorite thing to make for dinner is reservations. She also loves to travel, where she gets to put her uncanny ability with languages to good use. Dr. Gerard is fluent in English, Romanian, and Hebrew, and speaks passable Spanish, and a little French.
