I have always found the neurosciences to be facinating and exciting; but I recognize that having to visit a neurosurgical practice as a patient is a stressful time in one’s life. I believe in making that visit as comforting and smooth as possible. I see my role as an educator; to provide patients with all the information they need to make informed decisions about their care. Often there is more than one way to deal with a disease and I believe in empowering patients to navigate those difficult decisions on their own and offering my expertise and advice as needed.

Through my work I have come to recognize that surgery can be a painful and traumatic event. It is my practice philosophy to carefully listen and address each individuals concerns and fears, and to attempt to make the event as comfortable as possible. I also feel it is important to involve the patient in the decision-making process. As a team, we can formulate a plan that will provide the most successful outcome.
