Ka Wai Ola Family Medical Clinic provides comprehensive preventive and medical care to people of all ages living in and around Waipahu, Hawaii. With more than 25 years of experience as a family practitioner, Dr. James K. Okamoto honors this community by caring for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Dr. Okamoto offers a variety of services at his practice including physical exams, MMA physicals, weight management, pediatrics, senior care, and more. Ka Wai Ola Family Medical Clinic is excited to offer patients aesthetic services with SculpSure body contouring and PicoSure Skin Revitalization, as well as removal of unwanted tattoos. Dr. Okamoto has been Board Certified in Family Medicine since 1995. He worked at Evergreen Medical Group in Redmond, Washington for 14 years, serving as chair of the Family Medicine Department at Evergreen Hospital for 9 of those years. After relocating to Waikele, he began seeing patients at Ka Wai Ola Family Medical Clinic. With a medical practice grounded in personalized care, Dr. Okamoto takes time to connect with patients and to follow families, providing preventive and medical services from newborn babies to senior adults. He uses the latest technology to increase accessibility and reduce overhead, which allows him to spend 30-60 minutes with each patient. Dr. Okamoto’s dedication to health and wellness in the community extends globally to include volunteer work. He taught medical students and doctors in Uzbekistan, Morocco, and Afghanistan. He also participated in disaster relief, leading teams in refugee camps in Rwanda and Kosovo, and delivering post-tsunami relief in Sri Lanka. Dr. Okamoto served on Mercy Ships, providing life-saving medical attention to people in Guinea, West Africa, and the Dominican Republic. Dr. Okamoto‘s dedication to service also extends to the US Military. Presently he is honored to serve as Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy Reserves. He sits on the Board of Directors for Health Teams International, serving Cameroon, Tibet, and Myanmar, and on the Board of Medical Teams Worldwide, serving Haiti, Nicaragua, Sudan, and Kenya. Dr. Okamoto received commendations for his work including: Special Recognition for Outstanding Commitment to Medical Staff Excellence at Evergreen Healthcare United States President’s Volunteer Service Award for volunteer work with Medical Teams International In addition to his community work, Dr. Okamoto is involved with mixed martial arts (MMA) and and is a Certified Ringside Physician through the Association of Ringside Physicians. He has worked for the UFC, King of the Cage, and many local promotions. He welcomes patients seeking MMA physicals any time.
