Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport received its name after a unanimous vote in March of 2012. Previously known as, Little Rock National Airport, LIT is located in mere miles from central Little Rock and is the state of Arkansas’s largest commercial airport. LIT offers no international flights but does service 13 major US cities with non-stop flights.
At its inception the airport was called Adams Field, after Caption George Geyer Adams, who was killed in the line of duty. Adams had served on the Little Rock City council and a member of the Arkansas National guard before his death. A 1972 renovation expanded the airport to 12-terminals and another construction project is under-way to add four more gates in a 15-year period.
American Airlines was the first airline at LIT and continues to service the area, along with Allegiant, American Eagle, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, United and US Airways. The top destinations are Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Houston and Denver. The airport serves 2.2 million passengers per year, employs 3,500 and operates over 100 flights a day.
Parking options include short-term, long-term, valet and even metered parking near curbside check-in and baggage claim. The airport operates a free shuttle from the long-term parking facility to the terminal. If staying over there are five hotel options to choose from including the Holiday Inn Airport, the Super 8 Little Rock North and the Comfort Inn & Suites Little Rock Airport.
Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport XNA is an airport serving the northwest Arkansas area. XNA Airport is situated approximately 12 miles to the southwest of Springdale’s city center. Currently, the airport transports about 1.1 million passengers annually.
XNA Airport has a variety of parking options including economy, short-term, intermediate-term and long-term. There are six airlines that fly in and out of XNA serving several domestic locations.
