Public Works Department is a department operated by the city of Lakewood located in New Jersey that provides community development services. It is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the township s roads and sewers, parks and open spaces, and for snowplowing of the township s streets. Additionally, it provides building and grounds maintenance, animal control, recycling services, and garbage and trash removal. It provides same- day garbage and recycling material pickup services for glass, paper, cans, bottles and other plastic materials. It also provides trash and bulk pickup services for construction and demolition waste. Additionally, the department has animal control officers offering services 24 hours a day. The public works department also provides road repair and maintenance services, including repair of ceiling tiles, doors and locks, painting walls and crosswalks, signs installations and setting up holiday decorations. It also handles drainage problems, and cleans and repairs catch basins, manholes and drainage pipes. It also maintains traffic control systems and street lights.
