Historic Equity takes a financial substantive partner role for developers of historic rehabilitation projects. Services offered include purchasing limited partnership interest, help with state tax credits and providing equity to historic restoration projects, and more. Built by Louis A. Benoist in the 1850s, the historic Oakland House in Affton currently serves as the meeting place for the Affton Historical Society. The society holds special events at the mansion throughout the year including a Christmas party and an Easter-egg hunt. The Oakland House can also be rented for parties, weddings and luncheons throughout the year.
The Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park is located on North New Ballas Road in the Sugar Creek area. This house was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and sits nestled on 10.5 acres of woods. One must make an appointment for tours. This house is listed as a National Register of Historic Places.
Webster Groves is one of the oldest and most interesting parts of St. Louis County. The Webster Groves Hisorical Society was founded to preserve and celebrate the history of the community. The society is located in the Hawkins House, which was originally owned by Chistopher Hawkins, whose father developed the Hawkins rifle.
The home is in excellent condition and tours of the house are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call or visit the website for more information.
When the Webster Groves historical society has an event, it is usually held in the Hearth Room, or more accurately the Hearth Building at the Hawkin House Estate. In addition to being used by the Society it also can be used by private individuals who may wish to have a wedding reception, anniversary or party on the estate. It is a beautiful entertainment hall and can accommodate approximately 400 people. Reservations can be made by contacting the Webster Groves Historical Society.
The Affton Historical Society is run from the historic Oakland House in Affton. Members of the society hold quarterly meetings and receive a quarterly newsletter. Members also enjoy admission to private events, as well as free admission to public events and holiday celebrations at the Oakland House.
