Northern Regional Center for Independent Living (NRCIL) in Watertown, NY is a community-based disability rights and resource center. We were started in 1987 with a grant from the New York State education department, through the work of a grassroots group called Citizens United for the Removal of Barriers (CURB) and the Disabled Persons Action Organization. We are now part of a network of 37 independent living centers in New York State and over 450 centers across the nation.

The Hospice of Jefferson County serves individuals and families suffering from life-threatening diseases. Founded in 1986, the agency provides bereavement and follow-up care to more than 4,000 patients and families in Jefferson and southern St. Lawrence counties in New York. The Hospice of Jefferson County also conducts community education workshops and monthly support groups for children and adolescents. It administers the Over the Rainbow program that offers opportunities for children between the ages of 6 and 12 to connect with others and share their feelings of grief. It employs a team of nurses, social workers and bereavement counselors, as well as a group of volunteers. The Hospice of Jefferson County is located in Watertown, N.Y.
