Crossroads Community Day school is a middle school continuation program located on the Petaluma Junior High School campus. Though it was founded in 2000, this is only its second year at its current location. It is a free program for seventh, eighth and ninth graders that offers an alternative method of fulfilling junior high requirements and moving on to high school. The school offers a daily lunch program. Crossroads Community Day school is currently at about 50% of its capacity.
Kenilworth Junior High School occupies a new and boldly designed school facility on Reisling Road on Petaluma's east side. The new school has been open there since 2005. The history of the prior incarnation of Kenilworth Junior High dates back to 1953. Kenilworth is one of six middle schools in the Petaluma Joint Union High School District.
