Hedman's Hair Salon has been serving Mercer Island since 1985, and provides talented stylists in a laid-back atmosphere. Initially located on the south end as a small, four-chair barbershop, Hedman's has been at it's current location in the Islandia Shopping Plaza since 1996. Although it is proud of its established services for men, with three barbers at the salon, Hedman's has evolved into a chic hair and beauty salon that primarly serves women.
Besides hair color, cut and extensions, Hedman's offers nail services, waxing, and electrolysis. A popular, trendy service is its Keratin Complex, which is a long-lasting, anti-frizz treatment that relaxes curl and adds shine to hair.
Cindy and Tom Nguyn opened their salon in 1997 on the former site of a Domino's Pizza. Since then, the comfortable, uspscale salon has become a local favorite. One long-time customer even compares Cindy's to the movie Steel Magnolias because almost everyone here knows each other and loves to talk.
The salon features nine chairs for adult pedicures and five for children. In addition, it carries Dermalogica skincare products because Cindy herself uses and likes these products. The shop also devotes several shelves to gifts such as Illume candles and diffusers.
