The Public Health and Human Services Department provides services in the areas of public health nursing, environmental health, financial assistance, child support, children and families, persons with disabilities and the elderly. It offers a range of public health services, such as transitional assertive community treatment and assistance for adults with serious mental illnesses. Additionally, the department provides assistance for developmental disabilities, chemical dependency and adult mental health. Its elderly human services include long-term care consultation, case management for elderly and disabled adults and volunteer assistance with transportation and community resources. The Public Health and Human Services Department, in addition, provides special foods and nutrition education for pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and children up to age five. It is located in Duluth, Minn.
