Possibly a fort to shelter early settlers from Creek Indian attacks in the 17oos, The Eagle Tavern was built as an inn on a stagecoach route in the 18o0s. The tavern became state property in 1956 and has authentic furniture and decor from the 1800s. Tours of the museum are free and available through the Oconee County Welcome Center, helping curious visitors experience the feeling of 1800s stagecoach life.

The Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center offers miles of trails, a historical and cultural museum, a zip line course, and all kinds of educational programs and activities. It is a meeting place for many local groups and organizations, from school groups and summer camps to U.S. citizenship classes. It is a popular location for weddings, races, group activities and community events. The history and culture department features the Lawrenceville Female Seminary, McDaniels Farm, the Chesser-Williams House, Freeman's Mill and the Yellow River Post Office. The exhibits and activities emphasize history, culture and an appreciation of nature and the local environment. Many of the classes are centered around ecology and biology. The Center is also home to its own zip line course, where kids can participate in the Tree Cup Quest.

Heritage Sandy Springs Museum is located on Sandy Springs Circle North East. Heritage Sandy Springs is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the historic and cultural identity of the community. The Museum features all types of exhibits and artwork, including a permanent exhibit, "Sandy Springs: Land and People," that shows the story of the community from prehistoric time to the present through artifacts, maps and interpretive displays. The Museum also has two changing exhibit galleries and hold numerous events throughout the year including concerts and other workshops. The Apex Museum is located on the Historic Auburn Ave in Atlanta.  The museum has been around since 1978, and showcases African American contributions to America & the world.  There is a Trolley Theatre as well as the Yates & Milton Drug Store which is one of Atlanta's first black-owned businesses. This museum contains extensive information on the history and transformation of Auburn Ave.
