Drew Brown IV, MD, has a single-physician practice that focuses on spinal-related conditions. He’s an orthopedic surgeon serving Wesley Chapel, Florida, and the surrounding areas. Using his extensive education, such as his residency in orthopedics at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Dr. Brown addresses disc problems, scoliosis, spinal stenosis, and sciatica. Additionally, he can remove tumors using surgical procedures. Dr. Brown treats an array of other issues, including fractures, osteoporosis, dislocations, and spinal infections.  Generally, Dr. Brown stresses the importance of only using surgery as a last resort. In a majority of cases, patients find relief using an epidural or facet block. A patient may also receive a prescription for a non-narcotic pain reliever in some cases. For some patients, Dr. Brown may also provide a brace to support their bodys internal structures. The braces Dr. Brown provides help to support the foot, which prohibits any back problems that could stem from a foot problem. This may be necessary for patients who experience back pain as a result of a fallen arch.  Dr. Brown stresses the importance of exercise on a person’s overall health, especially on his or her back problems. One of the main treatments used at this facility is physical therapy. During this treatment, Dr. Brown guides a patient through exercises that work the focal area. As a result, the soft tissue loosens, and flexion and function both increase.  If necessary, Dr. Brown can perform minimally invasive decompression on the lumbar, thoracic, or cervical region of the spine. In rare cases, he may perform a spinal fusion on any of these areas, which consists of Dr. Brown fusing two spinal vertebrae together. Patients seeking treatment for scoliosis may require a more complex treatment approach.  Dr. Brown warmly welcomes new patients seeking relief from back and neck pain to his practice in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
