Granville Gude Park is a 29-acre park featuring something for everyone in the family to enjoy, including open play areas, two lakes, a lakehouse with a snack bar, picnic pavilions, grills, picnic tables, horseshoe pits, a boat dock, paddle boat rentals, an outdoor stage for performances and miles of hiking and bike trails. The park hosts a variety of community events such as a July 4th celebration and outdoor movies.
Greenbelt Park is a community recreational area and campground which is part of National Capital Parks East. The location has a ranger station near the entrance and is open from dawn to dusk every day. The park offers numerous picnic areas and campgrounds, as well as picnic tables, space for tents and numerous trails for hiking, biking and more.
Locust Grove Nature center is an educational environment for both children and adults. The center offers hiking trails, gardens and nature exhibits throughout the year. Educational programs include naturalist training, bugs and slugs exploring, compass and map training and nature movies. Locust Grove also holds an annual photography exhibit called Portraits of Nature.
The Meadowside Nature Center is the first stop before entering Rock Creek Regional Park. It runs natural and cultural history programs, during which visitors will learn about the park, its wildlife, and early Rockville pioneer living. The center features a Curiosity Room, and activities room where young visitors can learn more about the park by interacting with live animals.
At the north end of Wheaton's Regional Park is the colorful and calm Brookside Gardens, a showcase garden with trails. Photography is popular here, but only individual photographers can snap away without a permit. The conservatory offers a daily live butterfly show, usually mid April through early September, while the visitor center offers information on the gardens, as well as a gift shop.
Established in 1939, Glen Haven Memorial Park provides a variety of aftercare services and products to families living in the Glen Burnie area. Services include cremation, mausoleums, traditional burial and lawn crypts. The company also offers products such as burial plots, vaults and urns for purchase.
