Designated a Blue Ribbon school in 2008, the co-ed Serra Catholic School strives to develop the unique potential of each student, spiritually, physically, socially and pyschologically so that, no matter his learning style, he will meet the Student Learning Expectations.
Serra operates under the Diocese of Orange and is the first multi-parish Catholic school within the Diocese. Class sizes range from 28-30, but often break into much smaller groups to receive specialized attention. Students are expected to show proof of baptism in the Roman Catholic faith; exceptions must be presented in writing during the application process and approved by the lead pastor and principal.
According to Diocesan policy, the school does not dislose testing results but does claim that students perform above the national average.
An admission advantage exists for registered members of St. Kilian, San Francisco Solano, Santiago de Compostela and Holy Trinity churches.
The school offers a junior kindergarten and will begin offering preschool in spring 2011 at Holy Trinity parish in Ladera Ranch.
