Brights Bottle Gas has been serving Burgin, KY and the surrounding communities with not just propane and exceptional service, but with a family touch. Over the years, this family owned and operated company has continued do business in much the same way as when it was founded in 1956 by Thomas B. "Bud" Bright. High family values and keeping that "Down Home" feel is very important to the way we do business. Our dedication to providing the best customer service and our loyal, hard-working staff have been the keys to our success from the very beginning. Thomas B. "Bud" Bright was a farmer in 1956. Even at that time, it was hard for a farmer to make a good living, and Bud Bright, a family man, was concerned about properly providing for his family. So, when a friend told him about a business opportunity offered by a major gas company to encourage people to start propane distributorships, he was interested. Bud found an ideal spot for his business, a one acre lot just off Brook Street in Burgin. The sturdy pole building on the lot that had previously housed everything from a tomato canning factory to a movie theater would make a fine facility for his propane business. This is where it all began with just Bud, Doris (his wife), Arnold Cross (his father-in-law), and Donald Milburn (the companys first employee who was not a family member). And when his children were old enough they began helping to. Customer service was top priority right from the beginning. Bright offered 24 hour service from day one. Bud used to switch the business phones to ring at home whenever there was no one at the office. Now employees take turns being "on call." Bud Bright also places a great deal of importance on maintaining the integrity of the company in all of its business practices. We have never solicited to another propane dealers customer and never will. In the first 15 years of business we sold our first million gallons of propane and built a customer base of over 3, 000 covering 10 counties. We have expanded beyond retail into transporting propane within a four state area and providing a dedicated propane system for a subdivision in Danville. And 50 years later, were still right here, and were still going strong.
