The combined touch and non-touch techniques of reiki, creates many beneficial effects including a sense of relaxation, inner peace, security and well being. Animals have also been known to be very responsive to reiki. The introduction of reiki to the world is credited to Dr. Mikao Usui (1865-1926), a Japanese educator and Buddhist monk, After a 21 day meditation in the mountains, Dr. Usui discovered ancient sounds and symbols that healed the human body and nervous system. When used in a reiki session, they activated the universal life energy for healing. A reiki session can be performed either sitting upright in a chair, or lying down. Wearing loose fitting clothes is recommended. I offer 30 minute and 45 minute sessions.
