Jane Algus, M.D. is a board-certified psychiatrist in New York City with offices in Midtown West, Manhattan. She helps patients improve their mental health, navigate challenges, and overcome emotional issues in a compassionate, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment. Dr. Algus also guides patients through career transitions and goals.  After earning her medical degree from the New York Medical College, Dr. Algus went on to graduate from the residency program in psychiatry at New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center. She also completed a rigorous two-year fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in consultation/liaison psychiatry and additional psychoanalytic training. Dr. Algus uses a companionate and individualized approach to patient care, embracing the latest thinking, tools, and techniques. Her practice is grounded in evidence-based science, broad knowledge, and extensive experience. She believes that sensitive, personal interaction and insight helps her patients to explore their most profound feelings and talk openly. Her decades of experience have honed her skills and allow her to develop authentic and safe relationships with her patients, enabling them to change, thrive, and become the best version of themselves. Outside of her practice, Dr. Algus is an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at NYU Langone Medical Center. She is also a faculty member at the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute and the Institute for Psychoanalytic Education. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the Medical Society of the State of New York.
