The mission of Community Centers Inc. (CCI) hasn't changed much since its founding by the Community Chest in 1955. The nonprofit's purpose is to support and engage those who are economically marginalized, have special needs or who might otherwise be left out of Greenwich community life.
CCI offers a combination of educational and therapeutic recreational programs, counseling, and advocacy to residents of all ages, racial groups and with a variety of needs.
For younger residents, CCI offers extracurricular activities and a breakfast and homework club at the elementary schools. Single parents can find support at CCI, as can seniors and adults with special needs.
Annual events include November's Annual Festive Giving and the Golf Outing held each July at Stanwich Club.
The Belle Haven Club, founded in 1889, is a private beach club located on the southernmost tip of Greenwich, overlooking Captain Harbor. Some 315 families belong to the seasonal club, which features a stretch of sandy beach, a bar and dining facilities, sailing programs, tennis courts and a swimming pool. Members can take part in water polo, swimming, diving and summer camp during the summer months. Junior sailing is available to sponsored non-members.
