Strauss Industries, based in Wheeling, W.Va., is a wholly owned private management company that procures, salvages, processes, recycles and distributes scrap metals and other materials. The company is a broker and sales agent handling materials on a local, regional, national and international basis. It also has a fleet of rental equipment that includes trucks and heavy construction and demolition equipment. It integrates and coordinates all arms of the business, such as Herman Strauss and Automatic Recycling. Herman Strauss operates scrap yards that maintain a fleet of tractor trailers and roll-off containers that exceed 200 units. Additionally, it utilizes multiple cranes, loaders, shears and balers in its operations. Herman Strauss has nonferrous warehouses where aluminum, brass, copper, stainless, titanium and other metals are customized for specific markets. The other arm of Strauss Industries, Automatic Recycling, converts cars, trucks, buses, appliances and other scrap into materials that steel mills use in manufacturing its products.
