Founded in 1817, American School for the Deaf offers a range of educational opportunities to students in preschool through grade 12. It provides sign language instruction, cochlear implant support, and speech and auditory evaluation and training services. The school offers occupational and physical therapies, as well as academic and career counseling solutions. American School for the Deaf operates an elementary school that administers mathematics fluency, library, and reading and writing programs. The elementary school also conducts after-school programs and extracurricular activities, as well as maintains a computer club. American School for the Deaf operates a junior and senior high school that has math, science and computer laboratories, as well as provides a foreign student exchange program. Its high school offers various athletic activities, such as basketball, soccer, track, wrestling and volleyball. In addition, American School for the Deaf administers the Adult Vocational Services program, which is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
