The Rev. Koonae A. Lee leads the Stratford United Methodist Church, which traces its roots in town back to 1789. Nine generations have worshiped as part of this church, which has occupied four houses of worship since it was established. Church ministries include missionary, adult, youth, children's and music programs.
The Helen King Reynolds Private School focuses on the complete development of 3- and 4-year-old children – socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually. The Stratford Academy consists of two campuses sharing 25 acres in south Stratford. Stratford Academy - Johnson House serves children in third through sixth grades in a special academic setting as part of the town of Stratford's Magnet School program. Stratford Academy – Johnson House is the home for the academically gifted Advanced Learning Program, open district-wide to students in fourth through sixth grades who academically qualify.
The school is also the home of the Art S.M.A.R.T. (So Many Artist/Achievers Doing the Right Thing) program, an arts enrichment program. In addition, the F.A.M.E. (Fostering the Arts and Movement Education) program is housed at this location. This program offers a collaborative curriculum taught by specialists.
Harry B. Flood Middle School is a public school located on Chapel Street in Stratford. The location offers an academically enriching and welcoming environment for students and offers programs for children in the seventh and eighth grades. The Stratford public schools Board of Education offices are located at 1000 East Broadway, the original Center School building. Among the offices contained in the Board of Education building are the office of the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent, Interim Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Curriculum Coordinators, Personnel, Director of Technology, MIS and Food Services.
Porter and Chester Institute (PCI) has been providing career training to students in many fields since 1946. The Stratford location on Lordship Boulevard is one of nine PCI campuses in CT and MA and is accredited by U.S. Department of Education. Career training programs in Stratford include automotive, computer-aided drafting, computer and network technology, electrician, electronic systems, HVAC, health specialist, dental assisting and medical assisting.
Cheyenne's Daycare & Learning Center offers childcare services for children from 6 weeks of age to 5 years. In addition to its full-time Monday through Friday daycare, the center also offers after-school programs.
Franklin Elementary School is located just to the west of downtown on Barnum Avenue (Route 1) and serves a diverse group of neighborhoods south and west of downtown. The school, one of eight K-6 elementary schools in Straford, is the oldest continuing operating public school in town, first opening in 1910. Franklin School recently celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Lordship Elementary School serves the K-6 population in the Lordship section of Stratford in the far south end of Stratford, along Long Island Sound. The school has more than 210 students and is centrally located on the peninsula. In addition to a diverse curriculum, the school features an outdoor playground and ballfield.
