Oakwood School is an independent day school for students ages 5 to 14 years old with mild to moderate learning differences. Oakwood is a non-sectarian school whose goal is to offer those students a multisensory education so that they can accomplish all of their academic and social potential. The school serves as a co-educational day school for elementary and middle school students. Programs offered included speech therapy and occupational therapy. Each class at Oakwood is kept small, between 8 and 13 students, in order for each skilled teacher to devote an adequate amount of time and attention to each student.

Ha'penny Montessori School, formerly known as Willow Montessori School, follows the curriculum -- which includes Spanish lessons four-days-a-week and Zumba dancing every Friday -- pioneered by Maria Montessori. The school accepts children ages 10 weeks to 6 years, offering part-time or full-time day care, preschool and kindergarten.
Rachel Carson Middle School opened in 1998; students who attend are part of the Oakton High School pyramid. The school has won many awards and received recognition such as "Schools to Watch" by the Virginia Middle School Association. Rachel Carson offers foreign-language courses and advanced and gifted courses; it also has a college partnership.
George Mason High School is operated by Falls Church City Public Schools. It is the only high school in the four-school district. The school covers grades eight through 12.
