Founded in 1884, the Metropolitan Birmingham YMCA provides various community-based programs for children and adults. Based in Birmingham, Ala., the organization is guided by local volunteers to offer programs, such as adult sports, aquatic, personal training, youth day camp, youth sports, group exercise, after school, nutrition/weight management, diabetes prevention and many more. In addition to online programs, it conducts the Chaplaincy program for pastoral care and spiritual activities. The organization s youth center in Birmingham features a climbing tower, teaching kitchen, dance studio, computer laboratory, library, outdoor pool, sports field, basketball court and daycare center.
