The Port Jefferson Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a volunteer and career EMS system that has been protecting the community for 53 years. The organization provides emergency medical services to a 16 square mile area of Suffolk County, which encompasses 30,000 individuals. The ambulance corps primarily transports patients to Southampton Hospital, but according to emergency protocol, the corps may travel to hospitals further west or transfer a patient to a Suffolk County Police Medevac helicopter.
