The UFT Teacher Center is a collaborative program of the United Federation of Teachers, New York State Education Department and New York City Board of Education. The center promotes the professional growth of teachers and other educators in more than 250 school-based sites in New York. It plans standards-based instruction, lessons, units and projects. The UFT Teacher Center provides in-class demonstrations, team-teaching and coaching programs. The center offers educators with opportunities to deepen their content knowledge and develop leadership skills for school-wide change. Its individual professional development program enables educators to refine skills and become reflective practitioners. The UFT Teacher Center partners with area colleges and universities to provide over 500 college and in-service courses, as well as programs leading to a master s degree. The center is certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
