In 1929 a new parish was established to serve Catholics in Stewart Manor, a neighboring village of Garden City. In June of that year, Saint Anne's celebrated its first Mass in temporary space on Covert Avenue.
The growing parish community raised funds to build a permanent church but was unable to find space until they purchased land at the corner of Salisbury Avenue and Adams Street in Garden City. On June 22, 1930 parishioners witnessed the formal blessing and first Mass at the Church of Saint Anne.
Again, a growing congregation led to the need for more space. The convent on Fairmount Boulevard was built and the rectory on Adams Street expanded. It wasn't until 1964 that the Church of Saint Anne moved to Dartmouth Street; the Rectory followed in 1978.
Established in 1962 in Freeport, the church has been at its current location since 1979, and serves the Greek orthodox community. Congregation size is 400 families. The church offers counseling and confession; its pastor is Nikiforos Fakinos.
They participate in the Greek Orthodox Parade, held in NYC annually. The church has the following organizations—Golden Years, the senior group, who meet on Tuesdays, Little Angels the child youth program, and YAL for single adults. It also has a Philptochos Society.
Every June, the church holds a festival on two consecutive weekends, drawing thousands of people. The church also organizes an Olympics event once a year. The church office is located at 24 Kenny Ave, behind the church.
This church has been in at its current location since 1963 and is constantly updating and improving its facilities. The Massapequa Reformed Church offers Sunday school, adult education, bible study, youth groups, a women's guild, a nursery school and a musical ministry.
